Our summer vacation!

This past week we took Ayden to Kansas City for vacation! He called it our "bay-cation" and he told everyone we saw that we were on bay-cation and all the things we were going to do, lol! This was our first visit to KC and it was fun to go somewhere new with our little guy! But honestly...it was 100% a vacation for Ayden...we visited kid-friendly places every morning, and returned to the hotel by 2 pm everyday to rest, followed by swimming in the hotel pool, having food delivered to the room, and watching movies! But we expected this from the start when we decided to take a vacation by ourselves with no other adults to help us! We still had a great time and it was actually very relaxing to not be going non-stop all day, especially in the insane heat! I needed a nap as much as Ayden did!

We stayed in the very nice Plaza district and were within walking distance to tons of resturants, shopping, and a movie theater. But we only did the "walking" thing once...it was just TOO hot!! Like I said, we had food delivered to our room every night and ate in our jammies! Monday we visited the Crown Center mall and ate lunch at the Crayola cafe which was really neat! That afternoon we went to the movies and watched Toy Story 3 and we all enjoyed it very much! Tuesday we went to Oceans of Fun waterpark and escaped the heat by staying wet! Ayden had a great time but unfortunately starting coming down with a stomach bug that I had Sunday night and Chris had Monday night. Yuck. Anyway, by Wednesday we were all feeling better and spent the morning at the awesome Kansas City Zoo. Again, it was OH SO HOT, but we took lots of breaks in the shade and guzzled water non-stop! The zoo was a huge hit with Ayden- we got to ride a tram, a train, and a carousel and see lots of animals! By Thursday we were ready to wake up and come back home! We had a great time making wonderful memories with our little boy who won't be an only-child for very much longer!
